Visit

I am joining with a group of bloggers today for 5 minutes of writing. no editing.

The prompt - 'visit'.

This past week I went to visit a sick neighbor of mine.

What was meant to be a few minute visit turned into 2 hours.

She was in bed surrounded by her books and photos. It was so cozy.

She pulled me in with her kind words, rich stories, and deep heart felt encouragement.

She was like a magnet that drew me close and then sent me out feeling more like she had visited with me....rather than the other way around.

I am glad to know her and I hope she feels better soon.

Good Finds on Pinterest

I pin so many things, but how many of them do I REALLY get back to and use?  Well, here are a couple of pins that I have tried and loved.....I hope you enjoy them too. {Sources in the caption}

[1] Storing your asparagus.

No more gooey asparagus tops :) and it lasts all week.

My brain exists in my planner :) and I love Washi tape - so this is a match made in heaven for me.

[3] Closet Inventory.

I have never really thought much about my wardrobe - now that I am in my thirties, I have started to really figure out the clothes that I like and don't. This has helped me avoid spur of the moment purchases that I end up not wearing and really plan toward the the items I need and want.

degrees Farenheit, feels like 2 degrees, with a Lo of 8 degrees. That was the temperature in my neck of the woods at 7:45 pm on 1/6/2014.

I have never in my 33 years experienced temperatures like this.....so I went outside to feel it. I had been in the house with my two toddlers all day and I wanted to feel it for just a minute.

The air was sharp and clear. Breath taking - literally and figuratively. I stood in my front yard where just a few months earlier my boys were soaking wet in their bathing suits. It was hard to believe this was the same place. The sky was so black and the moon was a crescent sliver of light (I tried to get a photo but the wind cut across my camera and made my eyes water so I could not keep the camera in focus).

This experience made me think of the Aurora Borealis...because where you can see these beautiful lights it is this cold, probably colder and it made me want to be there. Below is a shot of them from Finland.

To think that something so beautiful comes from the collision of particles is absolutely amazing to me.

The infinite detail in God's creation is mind blowing.

Seeing the Aurora Borealis is one of the items on my 'Bucket List', which I don't really have written down anywhere. So I guess this is the official start of my documented list :)

2014 Resolutions

Hello there. We are now 6 days into 2014, already six! Time can slip by so quickly. That is why I like reflecting, when I reflect, time seems to 'stick'.

So here goes with the results of my reflection.....a set of New Year's [Resolutions], goals, achievements, practices......you insert the word that makes you feel most comfortable.

This year I aim to....

Try Something New

1. Slow Cooked Beef Stew Over Rice. I got a jam up rice cooker for Christmas this year and the first thing I thought to make was Beef Stew (except I don't know how to make it, so this year, I will learn)

2. A Jesse Tree. This year Josh and I started to introduce our two boys to the story of Jesus' birth with a Little People Nativity that my Dad gave them. In future years, I want to do more with them during the season of Advent. I talked to Josh about this and he agreed to help me design and make the ornaments (that we will hopefully be sharing here on the blog) that depict the stories in the Bible leading up to Jesus' birth.

Do Some Things Better

1. Take Better Care of Myself. This resolution includes - drink more water, go to bed by 10:30, wash my face every night (I know!.....this is bad, that is why I need to do better :), and finally workout at least 3 times a week.

2. Send Birthday Cards. I have wanted to be better at this for years, but have never put a plan in action. This year, I have them all laid out on my calendar with reminders and such. I already have January's complete and ready to go in the mail....so we shall see if I can keep this up until December. If you would like a birthday card, please email me, mamabeenoe[at]gmail[dot]com, with your date and address and I will send you one :)

Keep On

1. Blogging. I am coming up on my one year blogging anniversary and don't plan to stop any time soon. I really enjoy writing and interacting with you.....so.....I will keep blogging :)

Not Working Out - That is What I Have Been Doing....

Hello, all you Mama Bee No E workout buddies, Happy New Year!

I have been avoiding this post :(

but I need to write it, even thought i don't want to, because a big part of this blog is my Restoration Journey.....all of it, the success and the failure.

Hopefully you have been doing more working out than I have these past 3 months, because I have worked out almost NONE :)

Over the summer I did quite a bit of working out [1] because I had a family beach vacation coming up in September and [2] the weather was so nice and mild, it just motivated me to be active.

I took a weekly Hip Hop Dance Class with a group of moms at a local church and I also starting attending a Fit Moms play group in addition to the strength training I was doing a couple of times a week. Both I loved and both I now greatly miss because they came to an end.

Family vacation came in September, we had a great time and I felt great in my bathing suit. Vacation went..... and then three months......and I still haven't worked out :) Have you ever done this? 'Taken a Break from working out' and then never returned?

Well, that is me. Working out is one of those things that if I take a 'break'....I lose my discipline all together and there I go off the cliff.

I am restarting my Restoration journey or refreshing or continuing (I don't know what this should be called) but I am not giving in to what I 'want' to do.

Here is why.

I am starting to feel physically old and weak again.

My back aches when I get out of bed in the morning.

And sometimes, when I reach in an awkward way to pick something up (like behind the couch), one of my shoulders gets a charley horse so bad my eyes water. Am I the only person this happens to? Cause MAN! it hurts so bad.

Also, I don't fit into my clothes as well as I would like and well....that just makes me feel bad about myself.

I have a couple of new changes to my workout routine that I will share in the days to come. And I am 'mildly' considering some diet changes as well (I am hesitant to do this - I will explain later, but I think a little change in this area will do me good as well).

Who is where I am? Anyone?
Or, if you have started something new with your workouts, I would love to know details.
OR! if you have had great success these last three months I would love to hear about that too.

I have missed you, workout buddies. Your feedback and comments are always so motivating to me :)
